St Thomas, USVI

Lazy days?

...well, lazy days was part of the title for the last post, as poor me just had to have a holiday - so lucky you get to experience some of it, and it forces me not to neglect my blog! BONUS!

St Juan, Puerto Rico by night

Monday13th February.
First full cruise day today.
We joined the ship yesterday evening at the amazing San Juan in Puerto Rico, and sailed at 10 pm on our week long Caribbean island hopping cruise.

This morning we woke to the view of the beautiful island of St Thomas, in the US Virgin islands. In 1917, the island of St Thomas was purchased (along with St John and St Croix) by the US for $25 million,as part of a defensive strategy to maintain control over the Caribbean and the Panama canal during the First World War .

A chilled out morning, was followed by an amazing afternoon on the catamaran, Castaway Girl visiting Turtle Cove on Buck Island, and snorkelling.
Our Captain Jolene, ably assisted by Marshall, Alex and Caroline made sure we had an amazing time in the clear blue waters of the cove, looking at the turtles, yellow tang, parrot fish, barracuda and sting ray. Followed by a punch filled trip back to the ship - rum and guava of course, it being the Caribbean!

That evening, we saw one of the most amazing sunsets imaginable!
